YOUR CHANCE TO ASK THE EXPERT FOR HELP WITH BULLYING Are you one of the thousands of young Australians who has or is experiencing a form of bullying? Not sure who to talk to or where to go? The good news is you are not alone and you can get help.

With bullying, particularly cyber bullying, on the rise, headspace – the National Youth Mental Health Foundation – understands how difficult it is for young Australians and that it is hard to find someone to talk to.

That’s why headspace is running an online ‘Ask an Expert’ forum featuring a panel of leading bullying experts to offer advice and hope to young people experiencing bullying. headspace’s online ‘Ask an Expert’ will run on Thursday 21st August between 4.30pm and 6.30pm AEST and will feature leading psychologist Andrew Fuller and 16 year-old cyber bullying advocate Tom Wood.

You can join headspace’s ‘Ask an Expert forum’ on Thursday 21st August from 4.30pm AEST at http://www.headspace.org.au/home/information/q-and-a/. You can also pre-submit a question for the panel by emailing askanexpert@headspace.org.au

  • YAC It Up

    Sunday 30 March 2008

The City of Melville is looking for creative local artists to be a part of the biggest youth festival south of the river. Anyone interested in fashion, jewellery making or arts and crafts has an opportunity to host their own stall at the 2008 YAC It Up youth concert on Sunday, 30 March at Point Walter Reserve. The free concert, presented by the Melville Youth Advisory Committee, is celebrating 10 years of music, activities, stalls, rides and arts and crafts. Past events have seen bands such as Jebediah, Spiderbait, Eskimo Joe and Birds of Tokyo perform on the main stage.

Community Development Officer – Youth, Jo McKay said YAC It Up would be a great platform for aspiring designers and artists. “Artists will have an opportunity to get their work out in the public to a crowd of up to 8000 people,” she said. “It will offer them great exposure to a diverse range of people in a vibrant and fun atmosphere.”

The City of Melville is especially encouraging young people and community groups who might be interested in holding a stall to apply. Expressions of interest close on Friday, 22 February with only limited places available. For more information contact Ms McKay on 9364 0669 or email jmckay@melville.wa.gov.au. Applications can be downloaded from www.melvillecity.com.au/yacitup
